Reemphasizing the "local" in human culture A central theme of our aims is to study human settlements from a local perspective so as to try to discover the appropriate lifestyles for the particular geographical and cultural environments we live in. As part of this, we place a lot of importance on outdoor practical training to understand how our culture is deeply rooted in the environment and traditions of the local area.
