This agreement among these institutions promotes not only individual-level research collaboration and large scale, enhanced-level cross-institutional research. The following three projects are impending at present: 1.The establishment of biological survey methods for the Lake Biwa shoreline with the participation of local residents. 2.The evaluation of the effects of airborne pollutants falling over Lake Biwa and its catchment area. 3.A study about the holistic and adaptive management of the ecosystem of Lake Biwa�fs southern basin.
