The Environmental Preservation Center
-
-
-
The Environmental Preservation Center performs extensive treatment of waste water from scientific use and from dining rooms in the university, making the water harmless to the environment using a series of treatment stages. Only after being made completely safe is the treated water released to the environment. In this way, the Center protects the public water quality outside the university. The Center also provides guidance and advice on building appropriate treatment systems for waste generated by the university's education and research activities, and on promotion of environmental protection plans aimed at preserving the natural and social environment. With these basic aims, and as a commonly available campus resource, the Center was established in April 1995, at the time the university commenced operations. At present, the Center is involved in a range of projects, including waste treatment research, and on providing education on strategies for environmental preservation within the university.
